Last August 2006 my husband and i decided we wanted to buy a four door vehicle. Since we were about to have our first child we though that the 2 door vehicle had, had its run. My husband a VW fan had me look into buying a new one. Once we realised the price for a new VW Jetta at the Rohman Gurnee Volkswagen was not in our budget we decided to look for some used ones. We finally came across a 99 VW Jetta which appeared nice and after driving it we thought it would be a pretty good buy. Literally five days after owning the car it started acting up.. now they had told us it had just gotten inspected and even showed us the report. Sudenly the car wouldnt start unless you unlock and then relocked and then unlocked the car with the remote key. Then the alarm started going off about 10x a day. When i called my oohh soo nice (sarcasm) sales assosiate he wouldnt return my calls. So i deceided to take my call to the store manager. Which procedeed to tell me in kinder words ofcouser TOO BAD SOO SAD the car has no warranty. That i could bring it in to their service department but the problem would be fixed at my expense. When it came down to it... the problem was a good $500 dollars to fix. Now i know thats not a lot of money but with a new baby on the way it was something my husband and i could not afford. Then after the disappointing drive home from the dealer i started to notice my car felt funny. So of course i looked up at the sticker showing when my next oil changed needed to be done and and it showed they had just done it and that it still had 2000 more miles until the next. Worried that the car sounded bad i asked my huband to just double check the oil and we come to find it was BONE DRY! Now no oil was leaking in our driveway so it had not really been changed right before we bought it. I HATE GURNEE VW WITH A PASSION. We had to trade the car in because more electrical problems ended up occuring and realised that VW are very pricey to fix.
