Passat brakes

Own 2002 Passat. Had brakes replaced May 2006.
Just went out to drive the car and found the brakes were completely gone. Was told by phone that water had gotten into the car and froze. This is what they told me in May. Dealer claims pines needles clogs up the vent holes and causes water to back up. This is my first volkswagon. Had Ford, Chrysler and Mercedes before and never had brake problems.

First of all my sympathies to all who are experiencing their troubles, I have felt frustration with many different vehicles, though not to the extent that I read about here and on VWCortex.
