Hey Tiffany,

I'm another V dub owner and a close friend/co-worker of mine has a mexi-VW like yours and she's had all sorts of electrical problems as well. Basically all the wires that are installed in mexico are shit and will short out. You basically need to rewire your whole car. Trust me, you're not the only person with the "check engine light" problem. Vickie, my friend, has had all sorts of interior parts just fall off! You know that switch on the roof of your car for the interior lights...fell off. The reflector on the inside-back part of your door...fell off. The interior door handles are all worn out and some parts of her front bumper have fallen off as well. We're talking about a 2000 or 2001 cabrio here, not an old car.

My VW had the door moldings (the rubber pieces at knee level that run the length of the door on the outside of the door) fall off. That was a good $300 for new ones all the way around and every pre 1999 golf/jetta has the same problem.

Basically Tiff, you're totally correct. Keep doing what you're doing, give 'em hell!!!!

Bryan
